What Korouoma frozen waterfalls tours cost from Rovaniemi
A day at the frozen waterfalls of Korouoma costs from ~$89 with Arctic GM up to ~$163 or ~$163 for the two tours that keep groups to eight. The gap pays for group size, borrowed winter clothing and, on one tour, a photographer. Below, the four tours side by side, then the costs the headline price leaves out.
Four tours side by side
The table sets the four Korouoma day trips from our home page next to each other, at their regular "from" price per person on GetYourGuide. The booking page often shows a lower sale price, so read these numbers as the top of the range.
| Tour | From | Length | Group | Hike | Clothing lent | Food and extras | Pickup |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Arctic GM (our pick) | ~$89 | 7 h | Max 8 or up to 50, by option | 4–6 km | Thermal overalls | Grilled sausages, hot drinks | Office at Valtakatu 26, or add the pickup option |
| Wild about Lapland | ~$163 | 7 h | Max 8 | About 5 km | Winter clothing and boots | Campfire snack, hot drinks | 15 listed hotels outside the center |
| Beyond Arctic | ~$163 | 6.5 h | Max 8 | About 5 km | Warm clothing, boots, backpack | Light lunch, hot drinks, snacks, edited photos | Hotel pickup and drop-off |
| ToTheNorth | ~$146 | 6 h | Up to 16 | 5 km | None (snow grips only) | Lapland barbecue, hot drinks | Within 7 km of Rovaniemi |
All four cancel free up to 24 hours before the start, and GetYourGuide lets you reserve now and pay later on each one. Every tour comes with a guide who speaks English and roughly 1.5 hours in a van each way.
Arctic GM costs the least by far
Arctic GM's hike and BBQ from ~$89 is our pick and the cheapest seat to the canyon by a wide margin. The other three start well over half as much again, and two of them cost close to double.
The fare covers thermal overalls to pull over your own layers. At a campfire you get grilled sausages with hot drinks. The guided hike runs 4–6 km (about 2.5–4 miles), and the drive of about 105 km (65 miles) each way is in new Ford Tourneo 4×4 vans.
It holds 4.9 from 1,600+ reviews on GetYourGuide, the most of the four. The low price comes with two catches, and both show up in the booking form rather than in the headline.

First, one listing sells two shapes of tour. Its small-group option stops at 8 guests, yet the standard one can fill a departure with up to 50, so look at the option name in your basket before paying.
Second, the meeting point is the Arctic GM City Centre Office at Valtakatu 26 unless you add pickup from your accommodation. Check the pickup option when you book, especially if your hotel is a long walk from the center.
The lowest fare that still lends you overalls
Arctic GM's seven-hour day with a campfire BBQ, a guided hike of 4–6 km and thermal overalls in the price. Choose the small-group option if you want 8 guests at most.
ToTheNorth sits in the middle
ToTheNorth's frozen waterfall hiking tour from ~$146 costs a good deal more than Arctic GM, and it is the shortest day at 6 hours. Its group can reach 16, the biggest fixed size here.
The price includes pickup and drop-off within a 7 km (4 mile) radius of Rovaniemi plus snow grips for your boots. The fire stop brings hot drinks with a traditional Lapland barbecue, which reviewers describe as grilled sausages (vegetarian ones on request) with cranberry juice.
No clothing is listed, and that is the hidden cost on this one. Renting or buying a down jacket and real winter boots after you land in Lapland can close the gap with the dearer tours fast.
Wild about Lapland and Beyond Arctic at the top
Wild about Lapland's small-group tour from ~$163 and Beyond Arctic's photo tour from ~$163 share the top price. Both cap the group at 8 and lend warm winter clothing and boots, so you can turn up in ordinary layers.
Wild about Lapland gives you about 4 hours in the canyon itself for the trail and the photo stops, and a campfire snack comes with hot drinks. It holds 4.8 from 1,500+ reviews on GetYourGuide, and reviewers describe the food as light, often a simple sausage in bread.
Its pickup runs from 15 listed hotels outside the center, while guests staying in the center walk to a meeting point in Rovaniemi. Snowshoes are offered as an option on top of the usual grips.
Beyond Arctic adds the one thing nobody else sells. A photographer-guide takes pictures of you with the ice falls, and you get the edited photos online after the tour, along with a light lunch cooked on a fire at a lean-to.
Hotel pickup and drop-off are included, and a backpack comes with the clothing. It holds 4.8 from 280+ reviews on GetYourGuide, a much smaller base than the others; our photo tour guide weighs what the pictures add.
Paying more for a smaller group
The biggest single driver of price is group size. Arctic GM's standard option can take up to 50 guests and ToTheNorth stops at 16, while the two top tours stop at 8.
In a narrow canyon that matters more than it sounds, because there is only so much room at the viewpoints and around the campfire. Our small group guide sets out the trade-offs, and the hike guide covers the icy steps where pace matters.
What the price leaves out
- A taxi or a cold walk to the meeting point if you book Wild about Lapland from a hotel in the center
- Arctic GM's pickup option, if you add it, so check its price when you book
- Your own warm layers and boots on ToTheNorth, which lends snow grips only (see what to wear in the canyon)
- Thermal base layers to wear under Arctic GM's overalls
- Extra snacks and water on Arctic GM, where some reviewers wished for more food
- Hand warmers and a spare phone battery for the cold
Which price suits whom
On a tight budget with your own winter gear, Arctic GM gives the most for the least. Couples who want pictures of themselves at the falls get more from Beyond Arctic than from a cheaper ticket plus a selfie stick.
If you own no proper winter clothing, compare the top two with Arctic GM's overalls rather than with ToTheNorth. Families should check the age limits in our guide to Korouoma with kids first, since two tours take no one under 8.
Booking terms
Every tour here cancels free until 24 hours before departure, and the reserve now, pay later option on GetYourGuide means you can hold a seat without paying straight away. No fare can buy you the ice itself, which builds only in lasting cold and melts away in spring.
If you travel early or late in winter, read when the falls are frozen before you pay. Arctic GM also needs at least 2 guests to run, and if it falls short it reschedules or refunds you, so solo travelers should book with that in mind.
